Rockville SS8P Review and Specifications

Rockville SS8P Overview

The Rockville is well-known for its under-seat subwoofers, and SS8P does not disappoint either. Compared to our other Rockville under-seat sub review, it has a thinner profile and is less powerful – but still amazing! With a peak power of 400 W and RMS at 100 W, the Rockville SS8P subwoofer is truly capable of anything!

PROS

  • For the price, it’s a great buy.
  • It looks nice and has the good sound quality for its size
  • Eliminates the need to wire up a crossover which is very convenient.

CONS

  • The mounting hardware doesn’t work with a lot of cars. It can also come loose if not installed correctly, so be careful!
  • Issues with audio quality when playing music at high volumes – it distorts and sounds fuzzy.
  • The RCA inputs are on the back of the speaker.

Design

  • Cast Aluminum Enclosure
  • All mounting hardware included

Rockville speakers may not be as durable as high-end Rockville speakers, but the SS series is encased in a sturdy cast aluminum enclosure.

Customer Reviews

I use this model in my truck and love the sound. The speaker is small and compact but puts out a lot of bass.

I have this mounted in my boat, it’s plenty loud enough for me to hear! I got these instead of just using an amp which saved space and weight!

Hands down one of the best speakers on the market–well worth the money.

I’ve been using this for over a year now and it still kicks butt. For the price, I’m not sure you’ll find better.

I love my Rockville speakers! They’re loud enough to be heard but they don’t make any noise when there’s no music playing which is awesome!

Final Verdict

The Rockville SS82P is a great buy for the price and will look good in most cars because of its sleek black design. It’s also got decent sound quality for its size, making it perfect to go with a factory or aftermarket stereo. The only downside is the distortion issue when playing music at high volumes, but that’s something you can fix by turning down your volume and it doesn’t happen all the time, so it’s not too big of an issue for me!

Rockville is a great brand when it comes to amplifiers and speakers. They make products that have good build quality, but they’re not high-end or as durable as some higher-tier brands. That being said, for its price point this one has impressive sound.
